THE BRAD PITT LIGHT ORCHESTRA
May 9, 2006
Not that I ever really needed much encouragement to blow my own trumpet, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results of my first foray as a snapper. Dublin played host to Limericks finest recently in Slatteries of Capel Street. I went along to the "Brad Pitt Light Orchestra" and brought herself's camera and then used the pics as a test bed to play around with I-Photo and man do i love it when software makes me look good. Check out the pics.
FIND OF THE FREAKIN YEAR BABY!
May 3, 2006yes, strolling through Easons the other day I Came across a magazine called "Adbusters", FREAKIN BRILLIANT.
Exactly what Wired used to be 400 years ago before they sold their soul to geekdom and silicon valley.
I'll let them speak for themselves
"We are a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age. Our aim is to topple existing power structures and forge a major shift in the way we will live in the 21st century.
To this end, Adbusters Media Foundation publishes Adbusters magazine, operates this website and offers its creative services through PowerShift, our advocacy advertising agency."
ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chomsky
February 4, 2006
I was one of the lucky 2500 (thanks Mark) who got to see Chomsky at the RDS in Dublin (apparently there were approx 4000 more on the waiting list and Bryan still hasn’t forgiven me for being 50 feet from one of his heros.)
If I might be allowed a few comments. In a sense he was preaching to the converted, mind you no sane right wing war mongerer :O) would have ventured into the lions den and hoped to come out alive if they had challenged Chomsky. Olivia O Leary MC’ed and tried to bring a smidgen of balance into the affar but was given short shrift from the man.
He also seemed to be frustratibgly reassured of the rightness of his position and flew over topics when us great uneducated massess might have appreciated a bit more detail. It was like being out at your wife’s companie’s christmas party and not getting the in jokes.
Having said all that, he was erudite, knowledgeable, damning and consistent in a way that was rather refreshing. His take on Nurmenburg was disturbing, the war on terror, enlightneing; and his simple exposition on the principle of universality was Socratic to say the least.
bring back the test card
January 9, 2006Rember when RTE1 (Irelands first National TV station) used to stop broadcasting around 11.30pm in the evening. Programing would stop, we’d get a blast of the national anthem and then the test card till the following lunch time. And we’d all head off to bed cause frankly there was feck all else to do but at least you’d get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Well I’m staring a petition, send an e-mail to info@rte.ie and ask them to switch off at 11 or 11.30 and show the owld test card. If we took all the dross out of the schedule and just broadcast between 6pm and midnight, we might actually get something worth watching.
if you dont know what the word ‘erudite’ means, get yourelf a dictionary and go here…
